Disney Cruise Line Heads North

Disney Cruise Line will add three Scandinavian cruises to its itinerary. It’s no doubt inspiration fueled by the success of “Frozen.”

The Disney Magic will set sail from Copehagen to Norway starting next year with stops in Stavanger, Alesund, Geiranger, and Bergen for a total of seven nights. There will also be a nine-night trip out of Copenhagen with stops at Molde and Olden, Norway, and an 11-night voyage with stops in Olso; Kristians and Stavanger, Norway; Akureyri and Reykjavik Iceland; Torshavn, Faroe Islands; and Dover. England. All will take place during June 2015.

Prices will start at $1,561, according to Gene Sloan of USA Today.

The Disney Magic will also return to the Baltic with a seven-night itinerary, departing from Copenhagen and stopping at Tallinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and Stockholm, Sweden. A 12-night voyage is also planned.

The Magic was extensively refurbished last October. Additions sure to delight the kids include the AquaDunk slide, the Twist n’ Spout water slide, and an interactive water playground, the AquaLab. The Lobby Atrium has also been overhauled to make room for events such as meet and greets. The “it’s a small world’ nursery has been revamped, plus there’s an all-new Oceaneer Club play zone for kids, and Oceaneer Lab (with an animator’s studio), Andy’s Room play area, Mickey Mouse Club area for crafts and games, and Marvel’s Avengers Academy.

The Disney Magic was christened in 1998.
