Majestic Gurla Mandhata, with majestic sweeping slopes, south of Lake Manasarovar

"Trugho is the largest amongst the Manasarovar monasteries, against the backdrop of the gigantic Gurla Mandhata mountain, the easterly extension of the Ladakh range. The peak is said to have derived its name from Mandhata, a king of ancient times who prayed to the gods and undertook penance from the shores of Manasarovar. Traditionally, the approach to the lake over this range from the south has been across the Gurla Pass."
